Looks like most of my inspiration comes from Bernini's David. I’m all about what happens beyond the sculpture, off “screen", or in this case, painting. Wolverine is in the shadow of an X and cool people will know that it’s a wooden X in Australia that he’ll be nailed on. In the original comic panel, Wolverine is driving a Jeep but I thought it would be more appropriate for a bike because why wouldn’t he?

The Reavers have a bit of a presence here. I put Bonebreakers’s tread tracks in the dirt around the X as if he had a part in the X’s construction. Bonebreaker’s like a merman except instead of half stinky fish, he’s half small tank, or full size Tonka toy.
